Amazing figures released this week show that the number of people claiming unemployment benefit in the Grantham & Stamford constituency has fallen by more than 60% since 2010, and even by 15% in the last 12 months.
Following the announcement from Cllr Martin Hill OBE, Leader of Lincolnshire County Council with regards to the potential referendum to create a Unitary Authority for Lincolnshire. I have made the following comment to the local media;
Figures released today show that 49% fewer people are claiming unemployment benefits in Grantham & Stamford than were in 2010. In total that's close to 900 people who have found work and now have more security for themselves and their families. That's obviously fantastic news.
Unlike the papers, I have no idea what the Prime Minister is going to say in her speech about Brexit later today. But it’s very welcome that she has decided to put some flesh on the bones of her strategy as businesses small and large need to know where they stand.
Great news today that the Government plan to invest an additional £2.5m in Lincolnshire's Roads this year - a 10% funding boost to help deal with repairs and resurfacing - as part of an £8.1m investment in the East Midlands.
