It is two years since I received an urgent phone call from the Chief Executive of United Lincolnshire Hospital NHS Trust (ULHT) telling me of the decision to close Grantham A & E at night because of staff shortages elsewhere in the trust.
Since then I have joined in the marches organised by F4GH, met with the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Health and the Chief Executive of NHS England.
I have delivered a petition to No 10 and asked questions in the House of Commons. (And taken nearly a year off to be treated for and recover from cancer).
So it is a source of great disappointment that we have not yet been successful in getting Grantham A & E reopened at night. I am determined to redouble my efforts this autumn and ensure that a 24/7 service is included in the draft Sustainability and Transformation Plan that is published in 2019. That is the goal we must all now focus on.
